Oso is Now in Developer Preview

Today we're launching the Developer Preview of oso, which marks a big step forward for the product and the company.

oso helps developers build authorization in their applications. It's an open source policy engine that's embedded right in your application, and it provides a declarative policy language for expressing authorization logic. You define this logic separately from the rest of your application code, but it executes inside the application and can call directly into it.

The Developer Preview is now live. Go to our new Quickstart guide to play around with oso and learn more. You should be able to get up and running in

If you pop around the docs a bit, you'll find a lot of new material:

  • A quickstart guide.
  • Tutorials on authorization models, writing policies, and adding oso to your app.
  • A section on policy examples.
  • Libraries for Python, Ruby and Java.
  • A debugger and a REPL.
  • Background on our policy language, an FAQ, and plenty more.

Our engineering team keeps very busy 🙂. You can expect a lot more from the open source product, as well as an enterprise offering that we'll reveal in the future (if you're interested in that, feel free to get in touch).

If you have technical questions or feedback, join us on Slack or open an issue.
